Jack Simpson founder of the modern day pressure washer

There is a town on the border of Arkansas and Oklahoma called Siloam Springs. This is where you will find a company that started manufacturing the first modern day portable cold water pressure washers in the late 1950’s and are still making machines to this day.

‘Simpson Industrial Pressure Washers and Cleaning Systems’ were founded by Jack Simpson in Clearwater Florida and it was here that he built the first pressure washer and an industry was born. Since those pioneering days they have moved their plant to Siloam Springs.

In the early days cleaning paint off walls and cleaning dirty surfaces like driveways and brickwork were done either with the garden hose and a scrubbing brush or other methods such as sandpaper and detergents.

Jack Simpson saw a gap in the market, so set out to make the most of it. He invented a machine that could spray water under pressure thereby using less water and hitting the surface with such force as to remove any stubborn stains or dirt.
What’s more, the machine was portable, so cleaning contractors were able to take anywhere, as long as there was water on tap.

The machine was first invented with the idea of professional painting contractors using it to blast loose paint off walls before starting to paint. These were either purchased outright or hired out on a rental basis.

Jack Simpson didn’t stop here and continued to refine his invention. He soon gained a reputation for innovation and produced machines that had quality, durability and ruggedness.
Simpson Pressure Washers, because of Jack Simpson’s attention to detail were and are still known as the “Rolls Royce” of pressure washers. Every machine is built to his exceptionally high standards. Every machine had to be built just right because it had his name on it.

Simpson Pressure Washers and Cleaning Services have come a long way from those pioneering days and today from their factory in Siloam Springs produce a large range of different models, from the King Brute Series and Mini Brute II series which have combustion chambers fitted to heat water, to the cold water machines like the Power Shot, Water Blaster and Water Shotgun.
All of these machines are gas operated, except for the Mini Brute II which is electric, using either Honda Engines or Briggs and Stratton Engines.  Simpson’s have looked at a large number of different engines and decided that for reliability and durability, in their eyes, Honda and Briggs and Stratton have no equal.
